Chem-Bac Laboratories can accurately identify a broad range of bacteria and fungi species. Microbial contamination occurs in many industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics. Microbial contamination will have a huge impact on the product quality and economic benefits of these industries. Therefore, the identification of microorganisms is vital to the remediation of any microbial contamination that may occur.
Microbial identification generally refers to the identification of bacteria, and yeasts or molds. With the help of existing classification systems and the analysis of microbial characteristics, or the use of verified sequence libraries, we are able to identify the genus and/or species of microorganisms. Chem-Bac Laboratories understands that different customers have different requirements for microbial identification, and the level of identification required is also different. We have customized our identification process and methods to meet a wide variety of needs.
Basic identification methods include culturing of microorganisms, chemical staining, and microscopic observation. These basic tests will identify whether a bacterium is gram negative or gram positive and the shape of the organism (rod or cocci).
Advanced methods include DNA sequencing. Chem-Bac Laboratories uses DNA Software for Sequencing Data Analysis, which offers updated taxonomy and an expanded library. Curated entries mean more meaningful reports, and our experience is the edge you need in resolving issues and report interpretation.
Samples for identification can be provided as swabs, raw materials, liquid samples, pre-exposed agar plates, or isolated agar plates.
